The COSPIN Consortium was organized in 1977 by
John A. Simpson,
Professor of Physics at the University of Chicago,
and one of the leading space scientists from the earliest years of investigations in space.
He continued as Principal Investigator of the COSPIN consortium until 1996.
The current Principal Investigator, R. B. McKibben,
then also of the University of Chicago, was appointed upon his resignation.
In 2002, the P.I. moved to the
Space Science Center
of the Institute for the Study of Earth, Oceans, and Space
at the University of New Hampshire. COSPIN activities are now coordinated from the University of New Hampshire.

Data from all COSPIN telescopes, most commonly 10 minute averages of
counting rates, may be accessed on-line through the
Ulysses Data System.
Data coverage extends from launch in October 1990 to a few months behind real time.
For more recent data or other data products,
contact the P.I. or the
lead investigator for the particular telescope from which you need
data using the links on the telescope home pages above.
These links provide detailed formats and descriptions of the basic data
products from the Ulysses Project (Experiment Data Records and Common Data
Files) and
of the first pass COSPIN processing (Simgen) applied to the EDRs to produce
the COSPIN datafiles (SIMTAPEs) that serve as the basis for all further
COSPIN processing and analysis.
These links require the Acrobat Reader, and provide more detail than you
probably want unless you are working directly with the raw data.
